Beautiful Blushes

Hey Lads,

Well, Monday is over and now we can breathe that sigh of relief. As everyone waits out hurricane Sandy, why not read about some fun and gorgeous blushes that I'm loving right now.

Blush is to winter as bronzer is too summer. In the summer, you want to have an effortless warm bronzy glow. In the winter, you want a pale yet flushed rosey look. Since the mercury is plummeting, let's talk blush. At this moment in time I am using 3 main blushes. Here is a roundup of these three:

The babydoll pink

The look- This bright pink color will make you look like a living doll.

When to avoid - You want to avoid these kinds of color when you are experiencing a blemish around the cheek area. The pigment will surround the blemish causing it to appear more red.

My favorite - Hard Candy in Living Doll (Coincidence?)

The Peachy glow

The look - This peachy shade will give you that summer glow, even in the dead of winter.

When to avoid - Sometime we wake up with yellow tones in our skin. These are the days we should avoid this peachy tone as it will wash out the natural coloring in our skin.

My favorite - Hard Candy in Skinny Dipping

The Rosey Glisten

The look- This rosey shade will give you a natural flush all year round.

When to avoid - Perhaps again when you are experiencing a blemish.

My favorite - Nars in Orgasm

So, those are some of my favorite blushed of the moment. You know, I believe that blush is way underrated because I feel like sometimes people think they can just skip it. I firmly believe that you don't want to leave the house without your blush, even if it's just a dab on the apples of your cheeks. Blush takes your makeup to a whole different level, You went from being that tanned girl on the beach to that foxy tanned girl on the beach or pale girl on the bunny hill (yes, as in the ski hill for kids) to that living doll tumbling down the bunny hill. Yes, blush does have that much impact in my opinion. Don't believe me, try it! And send me pix. :D

Speaking of pix, here are some pix of my new China Glaze called Pizazz (over black polish).

What hair removal method is best for you?

peach fuzz? A slight 'stache'? A stray wirey hair taking up residence on your chin? Porcupine legs? Common ladies, we all have atleast one of the above. So, what is the best way to remove certain types of hair? Well, tonight, in this post, I'm going to give you a quick run down of different types of body/facial hair and what are the best ways to remove it.

Upper Lip
In my personal opinion, this is the most unsightly of the body hair. What do you notice first about some? Their face! Who wants someone zeroing in on their mustache. Mustaches are for men period. And even then, I draw a fine line. This hair is usually very faint but can be really stubborn to remove.
Best way to remove it? In my experience with anything from hard/soft wax to sugaring, I think the best way to go is a removal cream.  It is virtually painless, last about a month (depending on your hairs speed of growth) and leaves few, if any, strays. A word to the wise; Use this with caution. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly. I didn't the first time I used it and ended up with an acid burn.

Peach Fuzz (Appearing on chin, cheeks and forehead)
These little light hairs are usually only visible in harsh lighting such as the sun. I dislike this hair personally because it will shock me when I looking my car mirror. It's just a personal dislike, I rarely notice other peoples peach fuzz.
Best way to remove it? I usually remove this hair by using a eyebrow trimming razor. These are little razors used for shaping eyebrows. They are sold at most beauty supply stores for around $6 for 3. They are also useful to keep in your makeup bag to trim those stray eyebrow hairs.

Other wirey facial hair
I don't personally have many of these but my mother does (we can never tell her we know). These hairs usually start showing up as we age. They are coarse wirey hairs that can appear on the chin, lip, nose, ears and cheeks. Eeeew!
Best way to remove it? I say tweezing. Since there are usually only about one or two of these kinds of hairs it isn't worth waxing and since your removing the hair from the root, it will stay smooth longer.

Leg and arm hair
This hair is usually more coarse and visible. This is kind of hair you want to get rid of during the summer time since you are more likely to wear shorts and skirts.
Best way to remove it? I would say for arms that's waxing is best. For legs I prefer shaving. I have a low pain tolerance and would rather avoid waxing my legs. I have heard reports that waxing does last quite longer and that it comes back less prickly.

The much dreaded Bikini area
This is a very intimate area that most people visit professionals to get groomed. This actually terrifies me so I have therefore never gotten a bikini wax. I have heard that it an excellent way to groom this area and that it is very painful. So, painful in fact, that alot of salons suggest taking some sort of painkilling medication before your procedure. Ouuuuchhhh!
Best way to remove the hair? I suggest waxing, only because it seems to be the most effective way to go about removing this hair. If you want to opt for something else, i suggest a removal cream because it will have the same results as shaving without the razor bumps. A note of caution: If you plan on waxing at home, I suggest that you get it done professionally the first time around because that way you know your skins sensitivity level and such. Also, if you plan on going to a salon for the first time, make sure you do your research on the salons cleanliness. This is a personal area to get waxed and you want to make sure you wont catch any sort of infection.

Well Ladies, are you ready to be as hairless as a chiwawa? Hope these tips help with your hair removal process. Talk to you soon!

P.s- These are only my personal views. Hair removal is based on your own preferences and these are mine. I do not impose individuals preferences.

DIY Makeup Brush Holder

Hey everyone.

This is just a super quick post about a homemade makeup brush holder I made and it literally cost $3 to make. I was sick of having all my brushes floating around in my makeup bag. I couldn't find the ones I needed and I would lose them too. I decided to throw together a quick and cheap holder similar to the ones they have at Sephora. I basically bought a cheap vase from the dollar store and bought a cheap bag of clear acrylic vase filler. It's as simple as tearing open the bag of filler and pouring it into the vase and voila! You get this...

It's nothing special but it sure does make it easier to organize my makeup bag. Easiest thing I've ever made.

In other news...

Decided to get artsy with my nail polish the other night and came up with this...

Pulse nails!!!!! I saw a pic of similar nails on Pinterest and thought I'd try. Anywho, that's my mini post.

Intense Eye Shadow How-to

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Yes, it's that huge hump that we have just made it over (considering that it's 1am). Pretty exciting that there is only 2 more days left until the weekend. Do you have a fancy party to go to or maybe a club this weekend with the girls? Why not try to intensify your everyday eyeshadow for a more dramatic look? I'm going to show you how. It's really sweet and simple really, all it takes is your favorite shadow and water, that's right...water. (PLEASE EXCUSE MY BLENDING (or lack thereof) I DID THIS SUPER QUICK TO SHOW YOU THE INTENSITY).

Most eye shadows will go on pretty shear until they are highly pigmented. You can mostly find highly pigmented shadows at higher end makeup stores, such as Sephora or MAC. These types of shadows go on more vivid than normal and are usually used for photos or movies. I am going to show you how you can highly pigment your own shadows. It's pretty basic really. All you want to do is dip your eyeshadow brush or sponge into water before swiping your shadow. The water thickens the formula and causes the brush to absorb more of the shadow. This results in a more pigmented shadow. I took a few pictures of a swipe using a wet brush and a dry one so you can see the difference. The wet is on the left and the dry is on the right. I have also captioned the brands and names of each shadow in case you were wondering. PLEASE NOTE: SOME OF THE SHADOWS NEEDED A FLASH TO SHOW UP IN MY LIGHTING. THEY ARE MUCH MORE VIBRANT IN REAL LIFE.

Rimmel Blue Eye colour palette - unsure of the name
Rimmel London Colour Rush - 021 Alluring

                                                  Sally Girl Baked Eyeshadow-Ladylike Lavender

Sally Girl Baked Eyeshadow - Pink Frosting

So, Pictures don't lie. See the difference in tone? It's pretty crazy huh? So, eyeshadow rule of thumb; For a sheer look, opt for dry shadow, for a bold, vivid look, dab your eyeshadow brush in water. This can also go for blushes and bronzers. Turn them into cream blush/bronzer by spraying them with water.Another trick; spray your matte black shadow with water and apply with an eyeliner brush. Instant liquid eyeliner. It's amazing what water can do. Well, that's it for now folks. Stay tuned because I plan on posting again tomorrow with a DIY and some nail art.

Bath and Body Works haul and more...

Hey hey everyone,

Hope everyone's long weekend is off to a smashing start. What I love about the long weekend is that your like, 'dang! it's Sunday already. Oh, Wait! There's still Monday left!.' What have I been up to, you ask? Well, Last night I caught up with a local Ribfest (which was a-freakin-mazing), today I cleaned my car and went shopping, and tomorrow, I'm hitting up the beach. Yes, summer is almost done and it's gotta go out with a bang. Now, when I say 'bang' I mean 'spend all your money and don't give two-well you know the rest, a le Nicki Minaj. Yes, I have been burning bills like it's going outta style. This is bad when, well, it's all the money that you have until your next check.

In light of such things, I wanted to share with you my haul, which consist of everything from, candles to jewellery. Let me begin with my most recent haul, which was my bath and body works haul that happened today. On the left you will get a glimpse of my haul. Ta-da! isn't it gorgeous?! And it smells amazeballs. I wanted to do a vlog post about my haul but doing vlogs is alot of work. You gotta look perfect and everything. This way I can look like a hot mess and still show you guys the goods. I going to list all of the stuff and describe it. Let's begin ladies and lads.

Bubble bath (Lavender Vanilla) $5 on sale- This is a bedtime bubble bath and I bought it at the last minute because i noticed it was only $5 (normally $15). I guess you could say it was an 'mpulse buy.' I am super excited to try it.

Concentrated Room Spray (Marshmallow Fireside) $5- It's only 1.5 oz but one spray fills the room. My bedroom is right above my neighbors kitchen, so I get there nasty food smells sometimes (fish is the worst, bleeek!). This caught my attention for that reason. The smell also made an impact. It really smells like an ashy, fiery smell and it has a hint of marshmallow sweetness. Yum! My room smells fab.

Mini scented candles (Cafe au lait, Sweet Macaron, French baguette) 3 for $6- These guys are too perfect. They are small enough to pic several scents and i honestly couldnt choose just one. The cafe au lait smells has a cinnamony, coffee-ish, vanilla scent. The Sweet Macaron has a vanilla berry scent and the french baguette smells like a sweet buttery bakery (if you can imagine).

Mini body lotion (Malibu heat) $2.50 on sale - This little lotion was regularly $5 and I got it for half price. It has a flowery light scent that's perfect for the beach. I was in love the moments I sniffed. aaaaahhhh...:)

My Favorite Product of the haul. Scented candle (Summer Boardwalk) $6.25 on sale - This guy is amazing. I don't even know how to describe the scent. It's like funnel cakes, sea spray and sun mixed into a candle. So fantastic. I look forward to setting this candle ablaze.

Now, all of that goodness came together at the grand total of $31.36. Not to shabby!

Next up...

Every year in Toronto we  have a thing called the Canadian International Exhibition. Basically, it's a national fair with shopping, food, a midway and shows. It's pretty much the highlight of my summer. They usually have a makeup booth with a ton of discounted drugstore makeup. I spent so little that I thought I'd share.

-NY.C eyeshadow palette for blue eyes
-Rimmel Scandleyes mascara in extreme black
w/ free black eyeliner
- Rimmel Stay matte pressed powder
- Rimmel sparkle it up eyeliner in purple

All of this came to a grand total of $11.30. Yeeeeuuuus! It was pretty amazing. The Ex is only on until tomorrow so if your in the T.O area, go check it out!

And Finally...

The is another local traditn that I have called the Ribfest. It basically a giant bbq. There are about 20 vender's who prepare ribs and pulled pork sandwiches. You vote and there is a winner crowned. The food is amazing. But the shopping is even better. I picked up an adorable Pandora bracelet for $30.
The price included 7 charms. These are the ones I got.

Fleur-de-lis- Mainly because it's a french symbol and I'm in love with France, like IN LOVE!

Martini- Doesn't speak for it's self?

Cat- I am a self proclaimed 'cat lady'. I have two.

Vanity- Well, if your going to  call yourself a 'beauty queen' wouldn't a vanity be vital?

Anchor- I have always had a fascination with anchors. Mainly because they rep sailors and pirates which I'm kinda obsessed with.

Starfish- Again, something to do with my sea fascination.

Eiffel Tower -Did I mention I was in love with France? :P

Well ladies and gents, That's my haul. I hope you enjoyed. Thanks again for reading.

Lots o' Love

Sarah

Smashbox Primer

Hey lovelies,

Well, it's today was as Monday as Monday can get. It was busy, frustrating, depressing and everything in between. Needless to say, I look forward to the weekend.

I just wanted to do a quick review for you guy of the Smashbox Photo Finishing primer with Dermaxyl Complex and spf 15. Basically, it's an anti-aging foundation primer that you use underneath all your makeup. So it smoothes out wrinkles and pores. I honestly don't need 'antiaging' primer (I'm only 23, although I came across 5 grays the other day, eeeek!) but it was what my mom had. I have large pores due to acne and I needed something to smooth them out.

So, did it work? Heck yes! I am actually in love with this stuff. It smoothed out everything and made my skin flawless. The down sides are, it's not oil free so, I may end up with some pimps in the next couple of days (we shall see) and it's about $50.00 which is kinda outrageous. That being said, I'm learning that you need to splurge on some things if you want it to work well. I picked it up at Sephora (best store evaaaa!) for, like I said, $50.00 plus tax (Canadian).

Anyways, that's it for that. I am planning on doing a makeup haul this weekend so if I pick up anything good, I'm defiantly do a vlog post for you guys.

Thanks again for all the support guys and keep it comin',

      Lots o' Love,

Sarah
