Smashbox Primer

Hey lovelies,

Well, it's today was as Monday as Monday can get. It was busy, frustrating, depressing and everything in between. Needless to say, I look forward to the weekend.

I just wanted to do a quick review for you guy of the Smashbox Photo Finishing primer with Dermaxyl Complex and spf 15. Basically, it's an anti-aging foundation primer that you use underneath all your makeup. So it smoothes out wrinkles and pores. I honestly don't need 'antiaging' primer (I'm only 23, although I came across 5 grays the other day, eeeek!) but it was what my mom had. I have large pores due to acne and I needed something to smooth them out.

So, did it work? Heck yes! I am actually in love with this stuff. It smoothed out everything and made my skin flawless. The down sides are, it's not oil free so, I may end up with some pimps in the next couple of days (we shall see) and it's about $50.00 which is kinda outrageous. That being said, I'm learning that you need to splurge on some things if you want it to work well. I picked it up at Sephora (best store evaaaa!) for, like I said, $50.00 plus tax (Canadian).

Anyways, that's it for that. I am planning on doing a makeup haul this weekend so if I pick up anything good, I'm defiantly do a vlog post for you guys.

Thanks again for all the support guys and keep it comin',

      Lots o' Love,

Sarah

Hair One Review & New Lipstick from M.A.C

Hey Everyone,

How are my Beauts doing this fine evening? Good news, my blog has been getting way more views thanks to everyone who has been recommending. I wanted to again give a special shoutout to anyone who recommended me. You guys are all fabulous! Don't forget that I also have a facebook page yearning for fans.

So, are any of you familiar with the product Wen ? If not, it's basically a sulfate free cleansing conditioner. I came across a 'knockoff' if you will, of Wen called Hair One. It probably about a forth of the cost of Wen. I have never tried either, until now. I found the Hair One packettes at a local Sally Beauty Supply store and decided to give it a whirl. (I also needed to wash my hair that night and had ran out of shampoo) It was about $3 for the packette. I have alot of hair, it's finer, but I have alot of it. The packette, suprisingly, covered my whole head. Since it's sulfate free, the are absolutly no suds, which means that it wont lather at all. It's basically putting conditioner all over your hair. Before you write this off, let me explain the benefits. Cleansing condioner claims to cleanse and moisturize the hair without stripping the natural oils or the color. Cleansing conditioner is a good idea when taking a break from the normal everyday shampoo's because it gives your hair a break from sulfates which can weaken hair and fade color.

When I started putting it on, I noticed that I needed alot of it. There is alot more required than normal shampooing. First, you have to rinse your hair thouroughly before applying the cleanser. Then you apply a good sized amount to your roots and work it in for like 3 minutes. When I say 'Work it in' , I mean WORK IT IN! I had to add more to cover my roots. After that you add it to your hair to cover mid-shaft to the ends. I really worked it in to get the full affect and the best results. The instructed suggest leaving it on for 3-5 minutes before rinsing.

So, was it worth the work? Was I converted to Hair One girl? Well, the answer to both those questions is a big fat 'NO'. I thought that it was more trouble than it's worth and was quit disappointed. I am one of the people who likes their hair to squeak when it's washed. And I'm sorry, sulfates or no sulfates, I like my shampoo to lather. I think it cleansed well, but I just don't like this 'sulfate free' thing. It really defeats the purpose to me. Now that being said, some people try not to wash their hair often and may appriciate this product as being a cleansing conditioner. I am not now, nor will I ever be a Hair One girl. I will stick to my Mane 'n' Tail thank you.

Now, onto bigger and brighter things, like my new M.A.C lipstick!
I am totally in love with this color. I tried it on for the first time today just before work. My theory was that by the time I got to work it would be rubbed off anyways, but it didn't! This stuff stuck like no tomorrow. It lasted me my entire 6 hour shift (was a pale pink by the end of the day). I got tons of compliments on it. This was quite a splurge for me, it was about $20ish after taxes. But after seeing my manager with it, I knew it was meant to be.It is part of the Viva Glam collection and it's a Nicki Minaj color. Apparently every cent goes to charity too, so I guess that's a good thing. Looking hot and supporting a good cause, sounds fair :)

Well, that's it for me Lads.

Lots 'o Love.

My Current addiction & things to come

Hey BQ's. Well, it's past 1 am and I'm up blogging. Do you see a problem here? But there is a reason I'm up so late these days and it's all about my new addiction. It isn't any new trend or anything and it's been around for a few years now. Are you ready for it? Drumroll, please. It's...YOUTUBE!!!!!! Ha ha! Told you it was none too exciting. Yes, so its Youtube. I have been addicted to watching hair and makeup tutorials. It's honestly such an addiction! Every night I either, check for updates on the channels I'm already subscribed too or try and subscribe to new channels. It's getting a little out of hand. ha ha! I keep watching these makeup tutorials and seeing all these products these people are using. Suddenly I'm thinking to myself, 'I NEED THAT!'. It could possibly make my shopping problem even worse buuut lets not think about that for now.

Anyways, after watching hundreds of videos I gained some inspiration for this blog. I am thinking of doing a monthly favorites video. Alot of vlogs I have been watching do these monthly videos featuring some products that they love at the moment. So, this is my new goal for the blog. I've noticed alot of people like to see things more than read them, so I think vlogging would help my blog gain more exposure. I have a few more things up my sleeve so, I'll keep you posted.

I am trying ever so hard to gain exposure for this blog. I have a favor to ask of anyone who is reading this blog right now. If you like this blog, please share it with friends and family. Thank you all so much for you support.

ta-ta for now!

Love,
Sarah

Braids, Braids, Braids

They are everywhere! Braids in buns, pigtail braids, braided ponies and even braided faux hawks. It certainly looks like braids are the trend of the summer and I defiantly think this trend with head off into the fall and winter. I personally love this look and frequently rock it. My favorite way to wear a braid is in my bangs, kind of like a headband. I love this look with soft curls or waves.

Let's examine different types of braids and how you can pull them off.

First off, let's look at the classic french braid.

The french braid a three strand braid and is fairly simple to accomplish. I usually do a french braid in my bang, which we will examine later. I love this look and would say I do it most often. I also love the idea of french braids Incorporated into an updo. It add that x factor but still looks chic an polished.

Moving on...

The dutch braid is basically a reversed french braid. I also love this look in my bangs. It's alot of fun adding this braid to a bun or pony tail. Love!

Next...

The fishtail braid is a two strand braid and achieved by taking pieces from one side and crossing it over and then doing the same for the opposite side. It does take some time to do but it will be worth it when it's done. I love this braid for a day at the beach or even for a shopping day. It also looks super cute topped with a hat.

And finally...

Lauren Conrad is the queen of the braided bang and I have fallen madly in love with it myself. I love it because it's just a cute way to get your bangs out of your face. Again, this could be added to an updo.

So, that is it for now Beauty Queens. I'm going to try and post a few vlog tutorials on how to accomplish each braid. Like I said, I am certain that this trend in going to stick through the fall/winter months.

What do you think of the trend? Do you have any particular braided styles you like to rock?
Ta-ta for now BQ's.

xoxo
